ABOUT US
Kennedy
American is a worldwide supplier of parts for all American
Motors cars. We are located just
outside of Columbus, Ohio in West Jefferson. Since 1992,
AMC parts have been our only line, full time, not a "side
line", so we know your American Motors car.
Our
staff has years of AMC parts experience, so you can
be assured of getting the correct and best parts the
first time.
Our
3200 square foot warehouses are stocked full of original,
quality replacement, reproduction and select used parts
for all years of AMC cars from the 1940's to 1980's.
Many of the reproduction parts that are available were developed
exclusively or jointly by Kennedy American. We continue
to invest funds into reproducing more needed parts to restore
and preserve AMC cars.
Kennedy
American supports the AMC hobby and participates in
and sells parts at many major AMC shows from Connecticut
to Arizona, Wisconsin to Texas, and Michigan to Florida.
AMC
owners expect and deserve more… An exclusive AMC parts
supplier, not some GM or Ford supplier who happens to want
to "make a few bucks" on the few AMC parts he can get and
knows nothing about AMC cars or cares. A company that is
staffed with people who know, drive, and have a passion
for AMC cars. A company that is committed to stocking and
developing more needed AMC parts, not a local parts store
or chain who will just "order you what they can still get
"or "match it up with something". A company that has always
supported the AMC hobby. …and Kennedy American is the
answer!
OUR HISTORY
Kennedy American
can trace its roots back to 1974 when company founder Jeff
Kennedy started working for Dick Clifton AMC in Columbus,
Ohio. Jeff's first job was to prep the new 1974 AMC cars
for delivery . After a few months Jeff's boss had a meeting
with Jeff to discuss advancement and it was decided to train
Jeff for the parts department. After a few months the Parts
Manager decided to retire and work part time and Jeff was
promoted to Parts Manager. It soon became obvious that many
AMC dealers would not put the extra effort into getting
the harder to find, less routine parts. Soon telephone calls
started coming in from all over the country for hard to
find AMC parts especially for Javelins and AMXs. Our
first catalog was created, a three page parts list.
Since
Jeff owns these cars himself, he had a personal interest
in making sure that parts were available. When AMC would
discontinue certain parts Dick Clifton AMC would purchase
the remaining inventory. Jeff and his parts department staff
had become one of the top parts departments in the country
and was often number one in their zone. As time went by,
some of the inventory would run low and the part would have
to be made again, with AMCs help many parts were made by
the original supplier, while new sources were found for
others. In 1988 American Motors Corporation merged with
Chrysler Corporation and shortly after Dick Clifton AMC
was sold to a local Chrysler dealer and became Byers Jeep/Eagle.
A couple of years later the parts were moved into the Chrysler
dealer and the Jeep/Eagle dealership was traded for a Dodge
dealership. In July of 1992, Jeff decided that this was
the wrong direction to go with the AMC parts business and
purchased the entire AMC parts inventory and Kennedy
American was born.
